In today’s edition:

SPOTLIGHT

Workplace conflict is costing US businesses billions

tug and pull rope

Workplace conflict — defined as any type of disagreement that causes disruptions to employees’ workflow — doesn’t just have psychological aftereffects on the people involved. 🧠

With US employees spending just under 3 hours each week dealing with workplace conflict, the problem translates into lost productivity, and therefore lost capital, for companies. Specifically, a study showed that, across the US, employers lose $ 359b in paid hours due to conflict in the workplace every year.

This figure, much like the estimated hours spent dealing with conflict, is believed to be much higher, as a lot of the time conflict isn’t reported. So, what can businesses do to minimize the toll that workplace conflict has on team morale, productivity and profitability?

Providing conflict management training, eliminating workplace stressors where possible, and resolving disputes quickly can play a crucial role in keeping employees happy and preserving their productivity. 🤝
