◉ THE HR SPOTLIGHT
The HR Inbox Purge: 5 Requests You Can Prevent Instead Of Process

Your HR inbox probably isn't overflowing because employees have too many questions. It may be overflowing because your organization keeps making HR the easiest place to find an answer.
Even simple questions, when multiplied by the number of employees and repeated every week, can unknowingly lead HR to spend hours being the organization's human search engine—unnecessarily.
Here are eight common requests HR can prevent—or dramatically reduce—with a few simple fixes.
1. “Where can I find my PTO balance?” Fix: Create a one-page “Where do I find…?” guide covering PTO, pay stubs, benefits, tax forms, policies, and contact information.
2. “When is payday?” Fix: Publish the entire year's payroll calendar somewhere more accessible for employees. Add reminders before major holidays when payroll dates shift.
3. “Do I need to fill this out?” Fix: Every HR form should answer three questions at the top: Who needs to complete this? What's the deadline? What happens if I don't complete it?
4. “Can you send me the policy?” Fix: Create a searchable, employee-friendly policy hub rather than relying on HR to email attachments. Organize information around what employees are trying to do, not how HR files it.
5. “Who approves this?” Fix: Create simple process maps for your most common HR workflows. One visual can replace a lot of back-and-forth.
A lighter HR inbox starts with fewer reasons to email HR. Look for the repeat requests, eliminate the friction, and give your team back time for higher-value work.

◉ THE HR PULSE - What’s shaping the workplace
🧩 HR’s Real Engagement Problem — CXOToday
What’s unfolding: A recent Brandon Hall Group analysis argues that fragmented recognition, feedback, wellness and rewards programs can hinder engagement investments.
Why it matters: HR should look beyond adding more programs and assess whether existing employee-experience efforts are connected, aligned and producing measurable outcomes.
📉 CHRO Confidence Slips — ConferenceBoard
What’s unfolding: The CHRO Confidence Index fell from 58 to 56, with retention and employee engagement weakening even as hiring expectations remained positive.
Why it matters: HR teams may need to balance continued hiring plans with closer attention to engagement and retention as workforce growth becomes more cautious.
What’s unfolding: A survey of recently laid-off workers found a 14-point gender gap in willingness to return, with perceived unfairness and lack of severance among factors cited.
Why it matters: Employers considering rehiring former employees should examine how layoffs, severance, and the employee experience affect willingness to return.
◉ FUTURE FOCUS - Emerging people trends
Longevity Anxiety: An Emerging Retirement Concern That May Reshape Benefits

What’s emerging: Eight in 10 U.S. workers surveyed by TIAA say they have financial concerns about living longer, with 53% specifically worried about running out of retirement savings. The research also finds that 43% lack confidence that traditional retirement planning accounts for longer lifespans, while most workers expect employers to provide options for secured lifelong retirement benefits.
Why it matters: Retirement security is increasingly becoming an employee-expectation issue, not simply a benefits offering. Workers facing longer retirements, healthcare expenses, and economic uncertainty may place greater value on better retirement benefits.
How it will impact HR: Benefits teams may face growing pressure to evaluate retirement plans beyond accumulation and consider how employees can turn savings into sustainable incomes. HR should also strengthen retirement education and assess whether current plan options address employees' concerns about longevity and financial security.
