As March winds down and Women’s History Month comes to a close, let’s not pack away our commitment to gender and workplace equality just yet. 🌷 Aspects such as the pay gap, policies, and leadership role availability still remain issues for women, and HR professionals are uniquely positioned to drive meaningful change.
The Current Landscape: Recent data from Pew Research Center reveals that in 2024, women earned an average of 85 per cent of what men earned, a modest improvement from 81 per cent in 2003. However, progress has plateaued, underscoring the need for renewed efforts. Worldwide, women are earning approximately 77 cents for every dollar earned by men. At that pace, achieving global gender parity could take an estimated 134 years! Clearly, you can't afford to hit the snooze button on this issue… ⏰
Leading by Example: Companies like H&M and Gap are setting the standard with diverse leadership teams and proactive gender equality initiatives. Accenture’s inclusion in the Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index further demonstrates a commitment to transparency and advancement in this arena.
